
CHEF BRUCE WESTSMITH
Bruce cut his teeth with Leith’s Catering (Pru Leith, Great British Menu) before starting his career in Michelin Star Restaurants and Five Star Hotels such as The Mandarin Oriental Hyde park, The Dorchester, and The Waldorf. Working with chefs at Gordon Ramsey Holdings, David Nichols, Anton Mosimann and Eric Vernice – The Bearfoot Bistro, Whistler.
He then became the Director Chef at the Economist Newspaper group cooking for guests including, The White House, business leaders, top intellects and many of the UK Government, both past and present.
He’s been a Private Chef for High Net Worth Individuals – working in villas, chalets and Super yachts and Mega yachts in France, Spain and Italy. Bruce also trained at the Sushi Tokyo Academy and is highly experienced in Spanish, French, British, Pacific Fusion and Asian cuisine with over 30 year experience in creating world class foods for high-end venues, restaurants and private dining.
Nuria Palacios, has 20+ years of experience as an Event Manager in Barcelona, organizing some of the biggest events there, such as the X Games, Sonar Music Festival, Red Bull Music Academy and the Mobile World Congress Product launches. She also worked in PR, dealing directly with then band New Order (Scandinavian Tour), Julio Iglesias (Cap Roig Festival), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister at Game of Thrones – Estrella Damm Advertisement) and many other Spanish and international celebrities.
With their mutual passion for good food, Bruce and Nuria joined forces in 2018 to create Acorn Restaurant where they combined their impressive professional experience in catering and in the communications and events sector to create a delightful foodie destination.
QUALITY AND INNOVATION
Acorn is a Spanish Fusion restaurant in the lovely town of Godalming in Surrey that works with seasonal fresh products only. They use both traditional charcoal and wood grills (Japanese Konro) and the Bertha wood oven to enhance flavour and aromas of their dishes.
ORIGIN
Provenance is extremely importance to Bruce and Nuria – they also use only the best British beef for their wood grilled Rib Eye and Tomahawk steaks and have their own game keeper providing the best Venison, wild Sika deer from Dorset.
With a great selection of fresh fish and seafood arriving daily from Brixham in Devon, you really should try the fish of the day, the lovely Galitian style octopus or their own favourite, Rock Oysters from Porthilly, Cornwall and Pool in Dorset.
One of their best sellers is the stunning Iberico pork that comes from free range pigs, acorn fed (of course!) and left to enjoy a happy and healthy life outdoors that gives a distinct and unique flavour and such a high quality meat product.
Bruce has created a delightful menu which revolves around respect and knowledge of the product, tirelessly searching for the perfect selection of the best quality, mostly locally sourced products. It is a light, fresh and varied menu that is produced entirely on the premises and definitely worth a visit.
We can definitely vouch for it, having eaten many a meal there enjoying the delights that come out the kitchen!
